Arundel is a historic market town in southern England. It’s not a large town by any means, and totally walkable (my favorite!) It’s a popular place to visit, partly because of Arundel Castle – which was one of my favorite things to see while I was there!
Arundel is quite easy to reach, too – it’s about 2 hours south of London, both by train and by car. If you’re coming by train, you simply get off at Arundel Station! So easy.
Sooooo, like, what are you waiting for?? Here are some fun things to do in Arundel, England.
CHECK OUT THE CASTLE, DUHI absolutely LOVED Arundel Castle and highly recommend a visit! It was definitely one of my favorite things to do in Arundel. Read more about my visit here.
VISIT THE MUSEUMThe museum is one giant room with a ton of information all about the history of Arundel itself. It’s worth a look, especially since you only pay £1 if you show them your ticket to the Arundel Castle! Normally, for adults, it’s £3.50.
INDULGE IN AFTERNOON TEACan you go to England and NOT get afternoon tea at some point? I feel like you kind of have to…
Like blueberry scones and clotted cream and tea with a little milk and sugar does something good for my soul.
GO TO SOME SHOPSI enjoyed puttering about in the different shops in the area. There’s a bookstore that sells old books and also had some of those vintage-style postcards that I’m so obsessed with!
The Pallant of Arundel (pictured above) had delicious baked goods and freshly baked bread and the like. I got a pasty and it did not disappoint! They also have lots of fun regional specialty products you can purchase, too.
WALK UP THE HILL IN TOWN
If you’re feeling up for a little jaunt, you can walk up the hill for a pretty view!
HIT UP THE LOCAL BREWERYSo, I didn’t actually get beers here, but I mean, can a brewery really be bad? (Actually yes it can, I’ve only been to one brewery where I thought the beer was bad, but this is in Arundel and it’s a cute little town so if it sucks you can just stare at the scenery and feel better.)
BLACKFRIARS DOMINICAN PRIORY RUINS
This is a cool ruin right outside the castle. Originally built as a Friary, the buildings ended up being used for other reasons after 1583. There are plaques with information about the ruins that you can read up on, too.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Arundel! It’s such a cute little town and I had a great day wandering around.
